Biography Print

All the way... from the sunny beaches of the east coast of Australia, to the Berlin underground . Stories that can only be told by living the life . At times dark and brooding and other times very bright and up beat. He is sometimes compared to Elliott Smith and John Lennon, but always remains an original voice in songwriting.

"Urban Folk" music written from the heart ..."captures the subtle melancholic moments whilst delivering straight from the hip" John Prior NME

"..top class in so many disciplines, a hypnotic voice and a unique atmosphere created...brilliant"

Beate Baun DDN live review at the Bluenote Dresden

"Nobody plays an acoustic guitar quite like Stephen Brandon"

Sven Heinrich  Berlin Zitty

Recieving Australian national radio airplay with seminal post grunge band Sinister Grin, and regularly touring the east coast  from Melbourne to Brisbane through the late 90s into 2003 with two critically acclaimed releases "Mum Drove the Getaway Car"and "Under a Different Sky".  Debut album "Two Hours Away"(MDS) was released in 2004 and songs "Picasso Eyes" and "Crescendo Falls" enjoyed both mainstream and college radio airplay Australia wide.  Recently completed a very personal stripped back acoustic album in Berlin with good friend and collegue David Engler adding some lovely touches on the violin. The album was recorded as a reference to the scores of solo performances whilst troubadouring throught Europe

Scroll down for Deutsch. Whether the subject matter is love, loneliness or topics more slippery, a typical Brandon song demands your attention, roots firmly planted in both alternative culture and the art rock legacy of classic rockers. He has been tagged at various points of his career as a neo traditionalist,a maverick experimenter, a timeless troubadour and a Beatlesque psychedelic revivalist. Currently mixing the new album"BIG CITY BEATS" and performing with his new Berlin based band the "The Revelators" throughout Germany and Europe.

„Vielfalt, Variantenreichtum, Klasse in so vielen Disziplinen….. Eine spezielle Art von
Country-Folk ist das, vielleicht müsste
man den Begriff Australicana dafür prägen“. Live review Dresden Blue Note 16th Feb by Beate Baum DNN
